North Santiam River Trips

Bill Sanderson Experienced River Guide

Bill Sanderson and friends have been running the Santiam River for over 30 years. Knowing all the rapids, rocks and surprises helps to have safe trips. Knowing the geography and history of the area adds to the enjoyment of the trip.

The North Santiam River is navigable for 50 miles. Day tips usually travel 5 to 15 miles depending on conditions. Two or three day trips are available with campout or cabin lodging.

Through Douglas Fir and cedar trees through mountains, foot hills, farmland, and recent lava formations, the North Santiam is an excellent example of a multiple use forest. Summer Steelhead, Rainbow Trout and Chinook Salmon are caught here and there is an abundance of wildlife including ducks geese deer elk mink otter beaver and other animals and birds.

Snacks and soft drink beverages are provided on all trips. Safety equipment and fishing gear are always ready. Although some guests prefer to bring their own fishing gear everything can be provided for you.

Fishing success and river conditions are best from May through September, but trips may be run year around. Advance booking is desirable on all trips and necessary for some.
